Narrative context and universe (Lore)
In the universe of the originalDragon Ball Z films, Broly is a Saiyan who survived the destruction of Planet Vegeta. Born on the same day as Son Goku with abnormally high combat power, he possesses the ability to transform into the Legendary Super Saiyan. This genetic condition grants him a continuous increase in his Ki (spiritual energy) as well as a drastic change in his muscle mass and behaviour, which becomes uncontrollable when he is angry.
