Character background and universe (Lore)

Monkey D. Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and the main protagonist of One Piece. His goal is to sail the Grand Line, discover the legendary treasure left by Gol D. Roger and become the Pirate King.

Gear 5 represents the ultimate awakening of his powers. This transformation occurs during his battle against Kaido on Onigashima and reveals the true nature of his Devil Fruit: the Hito Hito no Mi, Model Nika, a mythical Zoan Fruit associated with the legendary Sun God Nika.
